3) Love your Neighbor as Yourself - 3:59
This groove started from a well known cover tune I’ve done in the past. It quickly turned into it’s own song with a more complicated chord structure. The idea here is pretty basic to Christianity. When the Teacher was asked about the most important commandment, it went like this. Matthew 22:36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” To me, He was saying be careful how you interpret the Old Testament and the eye for an eye contained within. We must all decide for ourselves #1 if God is real, and then if we answer Yes then #2 how we proceed. People have often asked me, and it is a common question, why would God let anyone go to Hell or want anyone to go to Hell? I’m sort of in the school of thought with C. S. Lewis; “There are 2 types of people in this world, those who say to God ‘Thy Will be done’ and those to whom God eventually says in the end, ‘thy will be done’. We don’t need to be doormats but most certainly temper any judgments we have with the spirit of Christ for the sake of others, and our own eternal future.

As far as studio notes, I was having trouble being happy with this mix. (not unusual) Something was missing. The little organ part was the last thing added. It’s actually an old electric air organ, from the 60s or 70s. Keys wanted to stick. Noisy as heck. Well, with digital editing, I was able to bring it in and out as needed to avoid the loud air noise and the key noise, and still get that analog sound I was looking for. This song also has a Baritone Electric guitar on it, one of the first tracks. I sold it and shipped it to CA before I ever finished the song. I always enjoy that, when I got tracks to remember instruments by. The lead harmonica section fits the acoustic folk feel the song originally had when in ‘acoustic trio work it out stage’. The hand claps I added at home on the built in microphone on my home iMac in Garage Band. I guess that is enough for now. I hope to do this in a more official fashion with engineer, good players, interaction, and maybe even a producer, in the future. Peace. Frazier

lyrics

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF - key E minor

REFRAIN 1: Do what you want, just love your neighbor as yourself
do what you will, just love your neighbor as yourself

V1 - Here on earth it could be just like Heaven,
if I could treat you like I treat me.
The spirit of love want to bring us to new birth,
and give vision to those who might see.

REFRAIN 2: Thy Kingdom Come, love your neighbor as yourself
Thy Will be done, love your neighbor as yourself

V2 - What will I do if you trespass against me?
There in resides the message of God.
But if you try to hurt me and my loved ones,
I won't run, and I might have a gun.

Love your neighbor as yourself / Harmonica Lead section

V3 - Animals don't give much thought to the motive of attack.
So, in our judgement, let the Spirit of Christ have our backs.

REFRAIN 3: Do what you want, just love your neighbor as yourself
do what you will, just love your neighbor as yourself
Love your neighbor as yourself. Who is my neighbor?
