2) LIKE A CHILD - 4:27
This is the 2nd to put to BandCamp of my 11 songs I have written and slated for the Jesus is Love project. LIKE A CHILD originally had a longer title of Faith and Love just like a Child. That got shortened. This song was written on acoustic/classical guitar circa October 18th of 2018. Most was written then, though a few revisions were made along the way. The acoustic guitar in the beginning as I worked out form and lyrics, was just 3 string chords, and as it progressed filled in more. This was and is not so easy for me to play solo, because of the groove and arrangement I have in my head. I had a certain feel in mind (Reggae), and even doing some work on it 3 piece with Chris Hall and Mike Thorn I was having a hard time feeling the arrangement I was looking for. As often happens, as I began recording and added tracks, it began to fall together, at least this particular arrangement. If I get to re-record this in a studio with engineer and musicians, it may vary some, even if it is the same basic structure and arrangement. As a sax player, years back I found I could double and used octaves and make my sax playing sort of come off like a horn section. I think that happened in this mix. This has, at one point, 4 different Tenor Sax tracks that give it the section sound. With the octave, it almost sounds like you got some brass also, aka a horn section. REGGAE is the feel I had from the start on this one, even composing on an old Classical guitar while lying in bed late at night. So the Riff in the beginning of the song is what this whole thing evolved from. Fortunately, for works sake, a bass line came to me that I could live with, using the original Riff and then moving on to a best attempt at a Reggae style Bass guitar line. Lyrically this tune is fairly simple. Verse one, a recurring theme in my life, uncertainty. I often feel guilty for being uncertain, feeling like a wave tossed on the sea. But the flip side, uncertainty pushes me to learn more, do more, and be better, in life, and in my faith in Christ. A real danger in the faith can be losing that “feeling” you had with God and Jesus in the beginning. I think you can really use human relations as an example. With a girl or boyfriend, we really are high as a kite in the beginning, but 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, 25 years, etc…. can get you to a different point where you learn to love beyond just feelings. I really think the same is true with our relationship with God. I have another song in this batch of 11 that really speaks to this even deeper. In Like a Child, verse 1 brings it in ultimately having faith that I am not alone in this feeling. Verse 2 says what I believe is true, but not always realized; that we have much more in common with each other than we allow to be. God knows this. If we grow with Him, we should grow in that direction. I believe God would have us get along, even if not the same faith, the same race, the same political party, etc…. You especially see this post Old Testament with the New Testament writing and the teachings of Christ, as I interpret them. In our current climate, social media being a driving force, this is difficult. But still I have hope and know that “even though we don’t see eye to eye” that if we look hard enough we will find “the faith we share”. “Each day has enough trouble of its own”. Man, things are better when I remember that, almost like I’m a child again. Walking that line. Child / Adult. Complete Freedom / Responsibility. Spirit guide me. Peace be with you. Frazier 7-23-2020

lyrics

Faith & Love Just LIKE A CHILD - G minor reggae groove

V1 - Sometimes I don't know where I'm going, sometimes I don't know how I feel
Faith becomes a game I'm playing, and I'm about to blow the deal
But I, I, I - I see the doubt we share, and I, I, I want us to know

Faith and love just like a child. Protection should this faith go wild.
Don't fret tomorrows trouble, each day has enough of its own.

V2 - Seems we have a lot in common, still we can't see eye to eye.
Perhaps we could meet in the middle. Break some bread & share some wine.
Cause I, I, I - I see the faith we share, and I, I, I want us to know

Faith and love just like a child. Protection should this faith go wild.
Don't fret tomorrows trouble, each day has enough of its own.

(instrumental over first 2 lines of the verse - then)
I, I, I - I see the love we share, and I, I, I want us to know
Faith and love just like a child. Protection should this faith go wild.
Don't fret tomorrows trouble, each day has enough of its own.
-----very end resold last F minor to a C chord
